End of life notice

SiteTruth is closing in July, 2026.

Validating the legitimacy of the organization behind a web site or search ads is out of step with the times. We built SiteTruth two decades ago upon the assumption that an online business had identifiable real-world owners and operators. By tying web sites back to the owning business, and doing automated due diligence on the business to obtain its business background, we could provide web users with solid information about with whom they were dealing.

Business practices have changed in the last twenty years. Tracing a web site to its owners has become more difficult. Business are much more anonymous now. Major browsers no longer allow annotating search results with background infomation about the result. The decline of independent web browsers has narrowed the niche in which Sitetruth can operate.

The Ad Limiter add-on for Firefox will stop working when the Sitetruth system shuts down. Please remove it from Firefox.
